Church Ministries
Christ calls every member of the church into ministry. The church is “a kingdom of priests” (I Peter 2:9). You are a minister of hospitality and caring in and out of the church. Every Christian believer is called to ministry, gifted by the Holy Spirit, and in baptism ordained for ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12). You have chores and work to do.
Bible Study Ministry:
It is the mission of Bible study to assimilate every Member of Saint Peter into building their relationship with God and his/her Saint Peter Family through igniting the Saint Peter Member into becoming an active empowered Disciple of Jesus so that they are a blessing to the Body of Christ
Mother and Deaconess Ministry:
Serves the congregation by assisting the Pastor and the Deacons in the administration of the ordinances of the church (Baptism and the Lord's Supper), providing meals for the bereaved and in ministering to sick or shut-in. The Mother and Deaconess Ministry with great expectation will help to awaken in the minds and spirits of dedicated women a desire to serve God and their church in the high calling of the deaconess. Deacon Ministry:
Distinguishing broadly the two primary offices within the New Testament church, we discover that a pastor is to teach in word while the deacon is to serve in deed. We see that an elder is to oversee while the deacon is to look out for needy saints. In comparing passages such as Acts 6:1-7, 1 Timothy 3:1-3, Hebrews 13:7, 17, and 1 Peter 5:1-5, we see that the functionality of a New Testament deacon centers upon releasing those in an oversight and teaching capacity to do their work without unnecessary distraction while they minister in mercy to the practical needs of the body of Christ. Theirs, indeed, is a vital and visible local church ministry. Those deeds include but are not limited to Visitation of Shut-ins. Various Fiscal Responsibilities. Administration of Benevolent Fund. Practical Ordering of Lord's Table. To contact the Deacon Ministry email: deaconministry@stpetermbchurch.com
Usher Ministry:
The ministry of ushering is one of the most crucial because it is one of the most visible in the church. When people come to church they are sometimes burdened, sad or discouraged. Each person, member or newcomer, comes with the hope that the Lord’s Day will be an experience of uplift and inspiration, a time of renewal and celebration. The skillful usher helps to make this a reality for those in attendance. The ministry to which a person is called when he or she becomes a church usher can best be described in the following ways: Greet worshippers, making every attempt to help them feel welcome and at ease. Escort members and guests to their seats. Distribute materials related to the service/meeting such as bulletins, hymnals, handouts, etc. Receive certain offerings, delivering them promptly to the treasury department of the church. Maintain alertness for any emergency that may arise, relieving the need or contacting the person(s) needed to provide the proper assistance.
Hospitality Ministry:
Purpose is to bridge the gap of causal acquaintance to genuine fellowship. This ministry organizes visitor follow-up. It also means contacting each visitor, there is a special need for a system of hospitality for prospective and new members, as well as members with special needs, which will integrate them into the fellowship of the church. This may take many forms and may overlap to some extent with other activities in the congregation. It could include a pastor’s Bible class, a new member class, a special fellowship dinner for new members once or twice a year, visitation and personal ministry, or the assignment of a special friend or “spiritual helper.”
Sunday School Ministry:
The future of Sunday school is bright; God will continue to use the Sunday school as the evangelistic and educational arm of the church. The Sunday school must not change its purpose but it must go "back to the basics," for the old is again becoming new. The Bible teaches that God’s work, done in God's way, will have God's blessing. When God blesses a church or Sunday school, it will grow—both internally and externally. When attitudes are right, other things fall into place. Note the formula for growth.
Formula: Right attitudes + right actions = success!
Right attitudes = right thinking about a situation or problem.
Right actions = right acting about a situation or problem.
